We went to the Master's Demo on Sat night. Good show, but mainly traditional. Many trad old-timers from the Bay Area... Tat-mau Wong, Gini Lau, Henry Look, etc. Men Gan Hong (daughter of Men Hui Feng and Kan Gui Xiang) and Shane Lacey also performed. As for Wushu representation, it was just SF Wushu with Bryant Fong, Emilio, and Matt Wong (from what I can remember). Tat Wong's teacher, Poon Sing, came from HK and performed as well (very impressive at 84 years old).

As for the tournament itself, I heard that overall there was a good turnout, but the majority of the athletes were from Tat Wong's school, as it was his tournament.

Yeah, same here. Shane performed Buk Sing Choy Lay Fut (Cai Li Fo), topless and bald.

Nah, just some red silk pants. I haven't seen his fur uniform in awhile. He must be toning down.

it was a very nice tournament, started and ended ON TIME  , had around 3 to 4 hundred competitors i would say. Mostly traditional, the taiji and modern wushu divisions were very small, that should improve in the future. They also had sanda divisions but with 'very' restricted contact.

one thing that caught my attention was the large number of very good choy lee fut female competitors, very fierce and with strong basics. They could learn nanquan/nandao/nangun fairly easily (minus the pointless nandu that is  ). The female nanquan divisions have been lacking for many years in the US.

and i also enjoyed meeting and seeing some of the old bay area trad masters. here is a clip from the organizers of the master's demo

Wanted to go to this, but being on the 4th of July holiday I couldn't swing it. Sounds like it was a pretty cool tourney. Maybe next year. Thanks for the vid link, E!
