Hi everyone

My name is Filipe Santos, and i'm from Portugal.
I'm 23 and i've been studying traditional Kung-Fu about 10 years and Wushu since 2003. I'm already studying Physics in Universidade de Aveiro.
I already done CQ and GS, but i've change to NQ, ND and NG last year based on my traditional path.

I've a Wushu blog with more two friends (All About Wushu), all in Portuguese, so we can develop Wushu in Portugal and get fresh news to everyone here, because Wushu it's not very popular around Portugal, yet!

Zhao Qing Jian (GS and CQ), Xie Fu Yan (NQ), Yang Yu Hong (CQ), Wang Peng Chang (NQ and NG), Wu Di (QS), Yuan Xiao Chao (very fast), Li Da Ming (NQ) and Zheng Lei Shi (NG), are just one's of my favorites athletes.

I'm in this forum since 2007, but only as a reader.. now i'll start to talk a little once in a while :)

So nice of Suzie to introduce me to this great website

my practice stated long time ago back in 1985. , by full contact karate at the same time learning from books some Shaolin and in 1988 nanquan and chanquan. in 1986 i started with taekwondo since i loved jumps and acrobatis, but found none in local club so i had to practice by myself. Still i was coaching at those 2 clubs i attended from 1986 , my masters told me to be in charge of basics and streching, conditioning, so i was training 6 days a week from 18:30 till 22:00 it was great . in 1988 i started with long form of Yang style and fast form, and since then Wushu is my love. in the mean time i attended many seminars and competitions (since there were seminars too) for taijiquan. And i love old style with jumps and fajing....

in 2000 i won bronze medal at European Taijiquan championship and in 2002 gold medal from Switzerland Open. Jiaozuo in Henan province in 2007 was greeeat experience where i did 24 and 42 forms and won gold medal with 24. i felt energetic and humble to perform in front of such great Grandmasters from all styles

from year 2000 i introduced wushu to my community, apeared on many national tv interviews and national magazines with tips for training,... also at that time started to organize every year http://www.worldtaichiday.org in my country and still i am only one here organizing it, and only school of wushu in my country. And in 2006 i made my country full member of IWUF (for one men i think it is great achievement - no support from goverment, not even students,.. ) - http://www.iwuf.org/member_info_end.asp?id=97

Hope to see You all in canada, i will do taijiquan http://www.wushunikolas.wordpress.com

Hi, Emil once told me to sign up on this forum and now after years I finally did :)

My name is Juho and I'm from Finland. I was born in 1989 so currently I'm 20 years old. I grew up watching kung fu -movies and since my childhood martial arts have been a great part of my life. As a 10-year-old I started with Karate (Wado-Ryu style), trained it for something like 5 years and then switched to Wushu although in the beginning the wushu I was training was not really Wushu, mostly it was just acrobatics told to be wushu. Still in the training I got interested in the real Wushu and started to learn it by myself and with Emil (God I miss those times :D) since there was no club where we were living. I learned pretty fast and felt that if I wanted to take my skills to the next level I'd need a proper teacher, and the only one was in Helsinki (about 150km from my home), so there was no chance. At that time a TKD-club (ITF) opened next to my hometown and I went to their training and trained TKD until it was time to do my military service. After those terribly slow 9 months I was done with my compulsory service and was free to continue my life. Soon after I got a place at Laurea University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki and now I've moved here and started studying security business :) Now I live quite near to the Wushu-club, so it's possible for me to continue with the training I once started! :D

I practice changquan and daoshu (I'd also like to practice gunshu) and can't wait to get back the level I once had!

Hey everyone, my name is Thomas :D … … I started out when I was in high school and have been learning traditional and contemporary wushu for almost seven years now with Western Australia Chin Woo Athletic Association, in Perth, Australia.

I’m a pretty big fan of Jian shu (definitely one of my favourites). Awesome wushu athletes like Wei Jian, Zhao Kun, Xu Ming Hu and Lim Yew Fai etc. are big motivators/ inspirators for my wushu training.

I still consider that my wushu home-base although I trained at several schools in L.A. while living there for 3 years (SCWA, TCWR, WushuStar, etc.) and have hung out in various schools around the Bay Area (Cal Wushu, SF Wushu, Omei, CWA, WC, etc.) a bit as well.

I mainly study southern stuff and I have a website you can check at (narom.net) with some vids. Currently I'm living and working in Shanghai. When I have time (which isn't often right now) I train with Cao Wei Ming at the Shanghai Wushu Yuan or Yang Rong Kuan, one of the Shanghai Team coaches. I also try to get up to Shi Cha Hai in Beijing when I'm able to knock around the old feiyues there.

Wow .. it's been 4 years since I wrote that. I should give an update, huh?

I lived in China for 2 years, training mostly with the Shanghai Team (with Yang Yu Hong, Xie Fu Yan, Wang Peng Sheng) and occasionally with the Shandong or Beijing Wushu Teams. I moved to Hong Kong for 2 years where I trained in laziness. And now, after a year of being (mostly) back in the U.S. and attempting to get back in to shape, I'm living in Xi'an, where I train with the Shaanxi Wushu Team.

My how time flies ....

Hey,

my name is Stefan Leoni (from Belgium with Italian roots). I have been practising wushu for many, many years now and had to make many changes in my body and life style to be able to progress. I only started at 21 yrs old without any physical background. Today, I reached the age of 37 and I am still practising wushu. The competition scene has been left behind and I am more focusing on coaching and organising wushu workshops.

Hopefully, I will be able to also use the JiaYao forum to promote some of the events that will take place in 2010. The first one is the Euro Wushu Training Camp in Feb2010. This camp will consist of 20 days of intensive wushu training under guidance of Wushu Top World Champion He Jing De and will take place in Brussels.

Hope to meet many new wushu fans at this event ...

Greetz,

Stefan

Hullo all.

My name is Emily though most people just call me Em, and I am an emergency medical technician with a local rescue unit out here in Longmont, Colorado, near the Boulder and Denver area. Certified in emergency medicine at the basic life support level, working on the advanced life support level, and also certified in surface ice rescue. Student at Front Range College. Fun. Ummm. I used to live in Los Angeles, where I studied chanquan at the National Wushu Training Center but now there is little to no wushu in my life since there is little to no (contemporary) wushu in Colorado, or so it seems to me. I was/am also a circus sideshow performer as well. Transgendered male-to-female blah blah blah years ago blah, which is hardly ever relevent these days but, eh, I think it is important to be a positive example to those who might not know any trans folks. There is more - like applying to mortuary sciences school and all that - but it is not a big deal.

So hullo!

I know a few of you from days past on the beijingwushuteam.com message board, both the rotten tomatoes incarnation and the pre-rotten tomatoes incarnation. So rad should you remember me, but no big deal should you not. I pop up from time to time as always, but hoping to stick around for a good long while from here on out. Ho hum tweedle de dee.

Hi,

My name is Heather and I'm 24 years old and I'm from NJ. By trade I am a graphic designer/animator and photographer. I have practiced various martial arts in my lifetime including Tae Kwon Do, Chen style tai chi, Wudang tai chi sword, Xingyi Chuan, and Ba Fan Shou. I have been practicing Wushu for 3 weeks at Wushu-Kung Fu Fitness Center in NJ. Aside from martial arts I am active in Irish dance and Softball. I came up with my screen name because my Chinese zodiac is the Wood ox and I couldn't think of anything better. My strengths are my memory (I was blessed with both a photographic and an eidetic memory) and my focus. My weaknesses are my back, knees and lungs..damn asthma.
My wushu motivation is how great I feel after training..especially now that I've passed the point of being unable to move for a day or so after.

Hi!

My name is Zaynah, I'm currently 21 years old and I'm from Bermuda. I started practicing Martial Arts when I was 10, starting with karate then switching to traditional wushu a few years later. If everything goes as planned I'll be attending uni in Halifax next month. I'm really interested in getting into modern wushu so if anyone knows of any modern wushu classes out there, please let me know!!
