A group of Wushu enthusiasts practice Taiji in in the largest park in Moroccan capital Rabat. The event is organized by Royal Moroccan Federation of Wushu and Chinese Cultural Center in Rabat to promote Taiji on the occasion of the World Taiji Day.⁠
The passion of Moroccans for Wushu dates back several decades.⁠
Taijiquan, better known in Africa under the name of Tai chi chuan, transmitted from generation to generation since the 13th century in China and entered in 2020 the Intangible Cultural Heritage list of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). #wushu #taichi #taijiquan #morocco #rabat #jiayo

NEWS: Jet Li’s first movie was Shaolin Temple, a film shot in China but produced by the small Hong Kong company Chung Yuen Film Company, which had signed Li to a three-film contract. Shaolin Temple was shot on location at the famed Shaolin Monastery, which was in decline due to the Cultural Revolution.⁠
Although Shaolin Temple was a Chinese film, it had an experienced Hong Kong director in the form of Cheung Sing-yim. Cheung had co-directed the The Jade Bow in 1966, the Cantonese martial arts film which brought the talents of choreographers Lau Kar-leung and Tong Kai to public attention.⁠
As Chung Yuen Film Company was a small outfit, it could not afford well-known actors, so Cheung cast wushu experts from China as they would not need to be trained. Along with Li, these included Woo Gin-keung, the national wushu champion of 1981 and 1982, Yu Cheng-hui, a renowned master of the ancient “two-handed sword”, and Yu Hai, an expert in Mantis-style kung fu. #wushu #jetli #shaolin #shaolintemple #hongkong #yuhai #yuchenghui #jiayo

NEWS: The International Wushu Federation (IWUF) is to release a technical video series for athletes, coaches and judges dedicated to one of its disciplines, taijishan, ahead of its debut at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.⁠

The series is designed to strengthen taijishan coaching and refereeing.⁠
⁠
The IWUF says the teaching courses will cover the catalogue of taijishan techniques and go on to demonstrate multiple sets of routines, providing guidance for both athletes and coaches.⁠
