Wushu School Reopens in Norway

Kim Gibson is the National Wushu Team coach for Norway and Sweden and the founder of the Oslo Wushu Team.

As of May 11th, some Norwegian businesses and schools began reopening including Kim’s wushu school. Following guidelines on social distancing and health precautions from the government and the national Olympic committee, Kim’s school hosted it’s first indoor wushu class since the pandemic began.

Kim was gracious enough to record some video of the school and the class, as well as answer my questions about what he’s been going through as a wushu coach. He talks about how his school almost went bankrupt, the challenges of teaching and practicing wushu while social distancing and how he’s preparing the Norwegian national team for the upcoming European Wushu Federation’s online wushu championship.
